FIFTH SL Rez Day 5L Sale on now!

Today, Dec. 20, I'm celebrating my FIFTH SL Rez Day, and to celebrate, Montagne Noire is hosting a special 5L sale now through Dec. 26 at our main store in Caledon Oxbridge Village.

A total of ONE HUNDRED items have been reduced throughout the store to 5L!

No, I haven't gone off the deep end -- everything from women's, men's and children's Victorian and other role play clothing, to accessories to furnishings to holiday decor are featured in this sale -- gifts for yourself and gifts to give to your family and friends.

One of the 100 5L items you'll find at the shop through Dec. 26.

I just want to thank all my customers for their support over the last five years, especially during my treatment for breast cancer.

What a pleasure it has been to be a resident and content creator in SL for all this time. I am still in love with the place after five years.

I hope you'll stop by and share in my celebration. Very Happy Holidays to you!

Unhinged: A Festival For Eku's Head opens today!

Today the Unhinged: A Festival For Eku's Head opens today, of which I am one of many merchants honored and excited to be taking part in.

What is Unhinged, you ask? Well, it has to do with a very dear SL person named Eku Zhong. Eku is funny, kind and one of the truly creative talents in SL. She's also very ill.

One of her close friends tell the story better than I can, at the Unhinged SL site, set up specifically for the festival.

Today through Dec. 15, merchants are putting out special edition gatchas and other wares, with 75% to 100% of proceeds going directly to Eku's medical care fund.

Here's my little booth, and the items I've made and selected from my current catalog to help support the cause.

The skull theme of the festival prompted me to recolor my black fur skull slippers for inclusion in a gatcha machine (the bubble gum machine front and center of the booth).

The slippers are 10L each, with mod/transfer permissions so you can trade duplicates with your friends. The RARE set is of course, the one with white skulls.

Having had my own catastrophic and chronic health issues, I am so pleased to be able to "pay it forward" by helping Eku out. She is truly a gem.

For complete information on the event, visit the Unhinged SL website.

Get your Pilgrim on!

Okay, I confess that updating this blog hasn't been at the top of my priorities list since returning full time to SL... for one thing, they changed the template on me, and because of my cognitive issues it takes forever for me to get used to changes like this.

Also, I've been concentrating on creating content, and getting ready for the holidays, which this week includes Thanksgiving.

Two new additions to Montagne Noire's role play clothing: "Le Pieux" (The Pious) and "Le Petit Pieux", two 17th century costume sets depicting the American Pilgrims, part of the reason why we celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November each year.

The Pilgrims arrived on America's shores in 1620, in the the small 100-foot ship the Mayflower, where they founded the colony of Plymouth, Massachusetts.

Legend has it that it was the native Wampanoag people who helped the Pilgrims survive the first winter in Plymouth, teaching them to fish and later grow corn in the spring.

The "First Thanksgiving" was celebrated in 1621, and the feast lasted three days, providing enough food for 53 Pilgrims and 90 Native Americans.

"Le Pieux" features male and female costumes for adults; "Le Petit Pieux" is for male and female children. These sets, like our other "couples" sets, are mod/trans, allowing you to transfer the second costume to your partner, friend, a fellow actor or role player, or other avatar.

This costume set can also be worn in other role play environments, or modified to fit other eras -- for men, the pants can be lengthened, the collar resized, and your own shoes and hat added.

The woman's costume is also generally representative of many other "plain dress" religious movements, such as the Quakers, Mennonites and Amish.

These sets retail for 250L, but as new releases, this week they both are 50% off -- just 125L, ONLY at our main store in Caledon Oxbridge Village. Enjoy!

September 2012 news: specials, sales & hunts!

I've taken a bit of a break over the summer to get my health back on track, but September is already gearing up to be a month full of new goodies, from hunt items to gachas and a 10L sale!

Both the Twisted Hunt and STEAM 7 Hunt are now underway at our main store in Caledon Oxbridge Village.

Our STEAM 7 hunt gift is an Airship Captain's desk set:

Our Fall 2012 TWISTED HUNT gift is "Veuve Noire" (Black Widow), a travel gown and suit set for Dark Victorian ladies and gents.

Plus, we have a *10L* TWISTED GACHA PRIZE tree in the east side of the shop which features five different sets of "Darkness" inspired black fur slippers:

What else? We have a NEW LUCKY BOARD featuring some fine Noire gowns of the past, and a few exclusives that can't be found anywhere else, including "Noire de Noel," pictured below! The Lucky Board is located in the east side of the shop.

Last but not least, I will be retiring a number of CLEARANCE items at the end of the month, including "La Vendeuse," (which also comes in sapphire and copper) so take advantage --- they are now reduced to ONLY 10L! You'll find them at the south entrance of the shop.

You'll be seeing more specials throughout the month, so do keep an eye out for more Montagne Noire updates.

Happy Hunting!

I'm back... and promoting One Voice

I've had to take a break from Second Life for a few months, in order to concentrate on getting my RL health back on track.

I was slowly easing my way back into my Second Life this month, when I heard about a disturbing situation regarding a copyright infringement dispute involving skin designer Gala Phoenix of Curio:

Curio's Gala Phoenix is currently in the midst of legal issues which have resulted in her content being removed from the grid, pending the outcome of her legal battle. The Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) process in Second Life requires that when there is legal action taken against your content, Linden Lab will remove it from the grid until a ruling is made. Gala's fellow content creators have come together to host a fundraiser to help with the substantial legal costs she will incur in contesting these baseless claims.

This fundraiser, One Voice, is currently underway on the Mesh sim, and runs through July 22.

I've decided to contribute four outfits to the event. 100% of the proceeds are going to help Gala with her legal fees.

The reason I'm doing this is best summed up by the event organizers:

This fundraiser is not only to help Gala Phoenix, but to also take a stand for the community of content creators, for many of whom SL is their main source of income. This could happen to any one of us, and it's necessary that we stand up and fight back to ensure that it doesn't.

I hope you'll take some time to visit the fundraiser -- and remember, keep your avatar simple, to keep lag for everyone at a minimum. The sim has been almost completely full each time I've visited in the last 24 hours!
